Built chiefly of flint rubble with freestone dressings and stone tiled roof, most of the building dates from the later 12th century/earlier 13th century, with much restoration work taking place during the 19th century. Along with being a building of great history, its more recent claim to fame is that is was the church where the funeral of Lord Olivier took place in 1989. He was a long time resident of Ashurst. See below for details of church services, etc.
